By : J. Villaflor Aug. 10, 2024

On August 10-11, 2024, Helios Optimum organized a highly engaging seminar titled “Fundamentals and Hands-on Training for Solar PV Systems” in Alicia, Isabela. This event was designed to cater to a diverse group of participants, from industry professionals to newcomers eager to expand their knowledge in solar technology. The seminar’s primary objective was to provide a comprehensive understanding of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, combining theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on experience. The two-day training featured an in-depth exploration of solar energy fundamentals, system components, and design principles, along with real-life applications to emphasize the importance of sustainable energy practices.

Day 1: Theoretical Insights The first day kicked off with a warm welcome and an overview of solar energy’s significance in today’s energy landscape. Topics covered included: The basics of solar energy conversion and the science behind solar PV technology. Key components of a solar PV system, including panels, inverters, batteries, and charge controllers. System design considerations and how to optimize efficiency.

Participants engaged in interactive discussions, enabling them to clarify concepts and share perspectives. The enthusiastic response from attendees highlighted the growing interest in renewable energy solutions in the region.

Day 2: Hands-on Training The second day transitioned into practical training, where participants had the opportunity to work directly with solar equipment. Under the guidance of experienced trainers, attendees learned to: Assemble and wire a basic 12V off-grid solar system. Set up and configure a 48V hybrid on/off-grid system. Troubleshoot common installation issues and ensure safety protocols. The hands-on segment allowed participants to apply their theoretical knowledge and develop essential skills. This immersive experience was invaluable for those aiming to install, manage, or advance in solar technology applications.
